Established in 1890 by Victor Carroll Squier in Battle Creek, Michigan, the V.C. Squier company manufactured strings for stringed instruments. In 1965, the company was acquired by Fender. By 1975, Fender retired the Squier brand, and started marketing strings under its own name. However, in 1982, the Squier name was reactivated to become Fender’s brand for affordably priced versions of Fender guitars.
