Short for “Fender Musical Instruments Corporation,” a.k.a “FMIC.” The company was founded in 1946 by Clarence Leonidas “Leo” Fender. It is most famous for producing the Telecaster, Stratocaster , Precision Bass, and various Fender amps, including the Princeton, Deluxe Reverb, Twin Reverb, Super Reverb, and many, many more. Today, the company also owns subsidiary companies that manufacture/distribute instruments and amplifiers under numerous brand names, including Squire, Guild, SWR, Jackson, EVH, and Gretsch.
