The highly anticipated PreSonus DigiMax is here. DigiMax is an 8-channel mic preamp with EQ and compression supplying pristine audio output via individual analog and digital circuits. It even includes an ADAT Lightpipe output. There are also nice features like two instrument inputs and external clock sync (finally somebody got this right!!). This is a killer tool for the amazingly low price of $1199.95.
Sonic Solutions reports to now be shipping their DVDit software for DVD authoring. It claims to be the most user friendly tool available for creating interactive DVD’s from multiple components.
Meanwhile, Sony has announced that they will begin developing a new type of audio compact disc that can hold twice as much data as conventional audio CDs. Tentatively named Double Density CD, the new format family would encompass CD-ROM, CD-R and CD-RW variants, all of which would hold 1.3GB of data. New playback hardware will be required, but will be backward compatible with existing media.
