Welcome to the 1000th issue of inSync, the music industry’s first – and still the finest – electronic news daily! For nearly four years now, inSync has been bringing you up-to-the-minute product releases, Sweetwater news and information, and late-breaking industry developments. We’ve answered thousands of questions and hosted summits on a diverse range of topics. We’ve been privileged to help countless musicians and audio professionals work more efficiently and get better results by passing on expert advice and recording tips.
It’s interesting how little inSync has changed over the last four years. If you check out the first month or so of issues in the inSync archives, you might see a few structural differences between the way the newsletter looked then and the way it looks today. It may appear a little less polished, or maybe you’ll notice a few differences in style. But you’ll still see the new product information, the new releases, and treatment of technical issues.
Sure, inSync and Sweetwater have grown. We’ve gone from a handful of inSync readers to over 30,000 subscribers. Sweetwater’s website, which used to be purely informational, now sells gear, which would have been a cardinal Web sin just a few short years ago. The company itself continues to expand in leaps and bounds…
You may think we are blowing our own horn, but we think a solid 1,000 issues of inSync represents a level of commitment we can be proud of. The music industry has seen some turbulent times since inSync came on the scene. During that time, plenty of other music news and information services have come and gone. Countless dealers have come and gone (some have just gone). What appeared to be stores, but were just facade websites, or companies burning through venture capital money are now coming back to earth (many crashing and burning along the way). Some who offered other services have vanished or sacrificed those extra services to the bottom line.
But through all the changes in the industry and the growth of our own business, inSync remains true to its original purpose: to provide recording professionals and musicians with music technology news and, most importantly, serious discussion of the technical issues we face. It’s this level of commitment that is a large part of what makes Sweetwater special.
We can’t say that inSync will never change; the style and delivery of inSync may change quite a lot. Even as you read this, we are working on new, more efficient ways of getting inSync to you! But the intent behind inSync will remain the same. No matter what form inSync takes, we’ll continue to answer your questions, host special summits, and bring you the news on all the latest developments in music technology. We believe that extra knowledge we’re able to bring to our customers is an integral part of what we do here at Sweetwater.
Thanks to all the readers who have sent suggestions, questions, and otherwise supported the first 1,000 issues of inSync . We look forward to serving you for the next 1,000.
Tomorrow, we begin our coverage of 2001 Winter NAMM, bringing you up-to-the-minute reports on all the latest and greatest from the convention floor, so don’t miss it!
