The 88 key version of Yamaha’s MOTIF Synthesizer Workstation is here, and you’re going to hear it again: it’s one of the most advanced synthesizer workstation in existence. We’ve been totally blown away by this instrument. 85MB worth of the best Yamaha has ever created; hands-on, realtime control via an easy-to-navigate interface; and – coolest of all – the revolutionary Integrated Sampling Sequencer that seamlessly integrates audio sampling and MIDI in a way never achieved before.
Apple is releasing OS X 10.1, which has tons of new enhancements and fixes. You can learn all about it at their website. They haven’t made a big deal about this, but we’ve learned from inside sources that this new version has all the pieces developers need to get going on audio and MIDI implementation. There is new Sound Manager functionality and they are promising some extremely aggressive specs in terms of audio latency, all right within the OS itself. How this will manifest itself still remains to be seen, but it’s realistic to assume that in the next few months we will begin to see new audio and MIDI products geared for OS X.
