For many of us, music is about good old rock and roll. But it might surprise you to know that quite a few of our customers play jazz. In fact, we actually have more than a few jazzers on our staff. For them, amplification isn’t about walls of 4×12 cabinets, but rather a quest to achieve the perfect tonal balance, allowing each note to tell a story.
It’s for them that Fender thoughtfully designed the Jazzmaster Ultralight Head and 112 Enclosure, though we wouldn’t be surprised to see it in use beyond the boundaries of traditional jazz stylings. Weighing in at a mere seven pounds, the 2-channel, 250-watt Jazzmaster Ultralight Head includes features such as individual DSP effects and 3-band EQ on each channel, high- and low-gain inputs, tuner output with mute, and a speaker-emulated XLR line output with level control and ground lift. It even comes with a padded shoulder bag and locking speaker cable. But what really puts it over the top for us are the classy solid maple side panels and trim strips.
The Jazzmaster Ultralight 112 Enclosure is the perfect companion, built from Italian poplar with black textured vinyl covering and loaded with a specially voiced 12-inch Jensen speaker with a Neodymium magnet. Fender even designed a patented magnetic docking system for secure attachment of the head to the enclosure. But the real surprise comes when you lift the Ultralight 112 enclosure. It weighs in at a svelte 17 pounds, even lighter than your average supermodel.
