Housed within a sleek new casing and mirroring the desktop design of the original Saffire, Focusrite has unveiled Saffire LE, which will make the company’s class-leading audio available to many more musicians world-wide. The new 24-bit/96kHz, low-latency FireWire interface has six inputs and eight outputs (including stereo digital I/O) with comprehensive monitoring and control options that will allow users to navigate the system with ease. Though it will lack the onboard DSP of the previous Saffire model, it does come bundled with the same acclaimed compression, reverb, amp modeling, and EQ VST/AU plug-ins, which reviewers have praised as equal in quality to some “boutique plug-ins” costing far more than the entire Saffire LE system. Focusrite expects to be shipping by the end of May.
