Mackie has announced the new Onyx-i series of FireWire Recording Mixers, which combine premium analog features, flexibility, and built-in FireWire connectivity, with 24-bit/96kHz support. The Onyx-i FireWire mixes can be used as audio I/O for all major native DAWs. Features of the mixers include Onyx preamps, Perkins EQ — which can be used during tracking — and more. There will be four models, the 820i, the 1220i, the 1620i, and the flagship 1640i, which provides a 16×16 FireWire interface, and can mixdown 16 audio streams from the computer in the analog domain.
