Abbreviation for GigaSampler InterFace. GigaSampler is a popular software sampler application developed by Nemesys Music. It was one of the first widely successful software sampler to employ a technology where only a sample’s initial attack would be loaded into RAM while the rest could be streamed off of a hard drive in real time. A key component to making that technology work has been the GSIF driver, which is specially designed as a core component of GigaSampler to enable extremely low latency playback of audio through MIDI events.
