In the world of data (computers, MIDI, digital audio, etc.) exporting means to format data in a form where it can be read by another application or device. Sometimes an exported file (or series of files) can be read directly by the desired application; other times the file must be “imported,” which usually means further translation is required to get it into the desired environment.
