Open-back Cabinet

A type of speaker cabinet – typically used in combo guitar amplifiers – that does not have a sealed or a closed enclosure. As the name implies, the back of the cabinet is completely or partially open. This allows sound to emerge from the cabinet from both the front and the rear, which can help with dispersion but can reduce the efficiency of the speaker, particularly at low frequencies.
