Q: I’m buying a Mesa Boogie TransAtlantic amp from Sweetwater, but I’m wondering if there are certain speakers that are designed for it?
A: Mesa/Boogie did not specifically design a matching speaker cabinet for the TransAtlantic. We’ve used the TransAtlantic with everything from Mesa and Marshall 4×12″ cabs to compact Boogie and Fender 1×12″ cabs — it truly sounds great through all of them, and has no trouble driving any speaker with the appropriate impedance. (There are 4- and 8-ohm outputs on the amp; the TransAtlantic manual includes extensive information on how to wire up a wide array of speaker cabinets to the amp.)
