Sony introduced a whammy of a product that makes the future of remote recording look and sound very nice. The all-new PCM-D1 Linear PCM Recorder was in the Sony booth, but making one’s way into getting a peek was a bit of a challenge. Easily one of the hits of the show, this handy recording device was quite the attention-getting show stopper.
Sporting a sci-fi design that would make Gene Roddenberry smile, the PCM-D1 features 24-bit/96kHz recording capability, 4 GB internal flash memory, removable Memory Stick Pro high-speed storage, and a built-in USB 2.0 port for Mac and Windows operating systems. It supports .wav recording file format and offers retro-cool (in a very modern sort-of way) analog level meters and an LCD display with comprehensive recorder status indication and menu selection.

- .WAV recording file format capability
