This box is based on pioneering work by Mike Sokol who developed techniques to use an array of 4 cardioid mics and matrix them into 5.1, 6.1 and 7.1 surround. The idea of a creating an affordable coincident surround technique developed into the FLuRB Array (patent pending) and the FLuRB box with extensive image control. With this system a versatile surround microphone array can be realized with only four matched cardioid capsules in a FLRB (Front, Left, Right, Back) coincident array. This product makes practical surround recording easier and simpler in many ways. There is a quality headphone amp included for location recording. You probably have your own favorite mics and preamps already and you can continue using them with this unit. The choice of which mics and mic preamps to use is a decision best left to you. Just plug the four outputs of your four micpreamps into the FLuRB and let the FLuRB do its job decoding your array into surround.
