Fender Custom Shop GT11
Sweetwater’s GT11 (Grand Touring) series made its debut in 2018, the result of a collaboration between our in-house guitar experts and the Fender Custom Shop to create what we firmly believe are the ultimate Strat and Tele. Designed exclusively for Sweetwater, the GT11 platform is based on the idea of finding a well-loved and broken-in guitar and then upgrading it with premium components. Every detail was meticulously chosen to elevate your playing experience — from the silky-smooth, 11-inch-radius fingerboard to the exclusive hand-wound pickups and custom wiring. Blending vintage character with modern precision, GT11 series instruments aren’t just guitars — they’re masterpieces waiting to be played. And you can only get them from Sweetwater!
Sweetwater’s Exclusive 11-inch Radius
When we conceptualized the GT11 series, we strove to create one of the most playable guitars on the planet, equipping each instrument with an exclusive 11-inch-radius fingerboard — a Fender Custom Shop option only available through Sweetwater. The 11-inch-radius fingerboard makes every note effortless, whether you’re voicing a chord near the nut or shredding at the 14th fret. Moreover, the transition is absolutely seamless, ensuring playability that’s smooth, intuitive, and downright incredible. Adding to the magic, the GT11’s ’62-style Oval C neck fits like it was molded just for your hand. No matter where your fingers land, you’ll enjoy constant, consistent comfort. At Sweetwater, we believe that there’s something magical about the 11-inch radius. It strikes the perfect balance, serving old-school chord grabs and modern fretboard wizardry with equal assurance.
Hand-wound Perfection
For the GT11 series, we worked alongside the Fender Custom Shop’s Mike Lewis to develop Sweetwater’s exclusive Sweet ’64 Stratocaster pickups. These hand-wound pickups deliver a beautifully balanced, full-range sound, with fat, round lows; sparkling highs; and rich mids. Additionally, thanks to their under-wound design, they offer unmatched note separation and clarity. Finally, the Blender tone control lets you seamlessly blend the neck pickup into positions one and two, unlocking even more tonal versatility. With the GT11 Strat, your search for the holy grail of Strat tones is finally over.
Also, for Sweetwater’s upcoming Masterbuilt GT11 Telecasters, Fender Master Builder Paul Waller is cooking up an exclusive set of pickups and a new custom tone circuit, so keep an eye out for them!
Refined RSD Hardware
Custom Shop GT11 guitars include RSD (Research Special Design) bridges, offering a sophisticated evolution of Fender’s most iconic hardware designs. The RSD tremolo on the GT11 Stratocaster, for example, boasts a precisely machined baseplate with a modified angle, ensuring smooth pitch bends and effortless travel. A cold-rolled steel block enhances sustain and resonance. Meanwhile, the saddles are closely spaced, shifting from vintage 2.220-inch spacing to a modern 2.080 inches — a subtle yet impactful adjustment that improves comfort and accuracy for intricate picking and rapid-fire playing styles. A convenient pop-in tremolo arm rounds out the RSD tremolo.
Similarly, the RSD Telecaster bridge, while evoking a vintage aesthetic, enhances your tone and stability with thoughtfully crafted, player-focused enhancements. Brass compensated saddles provide refined intonation, while a contoured plate eschews the sharp edges inherent in traditional flat bridges for an ergonomic shape that feels silky smooth under your picking hand. Moreover, the RSD Tele bridge features improved saddle alignment and spacing for better consistency and tuning stability.
