I've been recording our band rehearsals on the iPhone with the included mic. It was OK and very convenient.
When i tried the iQ6 mic it was a gamechanger. Completely different recordings. The input level makes a huge difference in recording quality. Also, the Zoom software is very easy to use and edit tracks - intuitive interface.

My only criticism is that the mic didn't come with a carrying case or other type of holder.
But this item is a winner !!!!

Excellent for the purpose was bought for recording for Facebook live!!!

The audio response of this mic compared to the internal I phone mic is beyond my expectation !
Now I can make a good sounding instruction video for my guitar student.

This mic was exactly what we needed to record audition excerpts using an iPad. We chose it over other mics because we needed some distance between the iPad and the musician to pick up clarity and tone in a larger space and other mics we looked at needed to be close to the source. We put the iPad on a tripod at 20-25 feet into an auditorium and got nice sound. Very versatile: it will get a lot of use moving forward as a way to record ensemble rehearsals, and I also plan to use it to record instructional video for an online course. Thank you Sweetwater for the helping us pick this out.

I have used this mic for livestream at our church in the past but this time I ordered for personal use. We needed to record a piano soundtrack for a slide show we were putting together for my Dad's 85th birthday. By downloading the Zoom app, HandyRecorder, I was able to record my Yamaha C5 grand piano by using my iPad close by the open lid, and then emailing (built into the share portion of the app) each track to my brother in law for him to lay on top of the slide show. The quality of the recording is amazing, with no special EQ of any kind. I would highly recommend this to anyone needing a hi-def stereo recording of live music using an iPhone or iPad.
