Ibanez pairs slim, fast necks with high-output pickups and a tight low B string. That combination suits palm-muted riffs and precise lead playing, which is why Ibanez shows up on so many metal stages.
A 7-string adds a low B below the standard low E string, opening up heavier riffs, drop-tuned breakdowns, extended-range chords, and wider jazz voicings.
The wider neck and extra string can take some adjustment, but many players settle in within a month of regular practice. Most of the adjustment comes from re-learning string spacing and remembering to mute the lower string when playing standard riffs.
