Ibanez Iron Label Xiphos 7-string - Black Flat Reviews
The Ibanez Iron Label Xiphos XPTB720 was crafted for pure unadulterated metal, as evidenced by its radical Xiphos body and sinister blacked-out aesthetics. Boasting an okoume body, this axe is a certified headbanger — okoume is a tonewood renowned for its bright, cutting tone and incredible natural sustain. And that's before you even plug it in! Paired with a suitable high-gain amplifier, the XPTB720 churns out face-melting metallic textures, courtesy of a set of DiMarzio D Activator-7 humbuckers. Meanwhile, its 5-piece Wizard II-7 neck and 24-fret ebony fingerboard provide unfettered access to your most technically demanding riffs. You also get rock-solid, stage-ready hardware, such as Gotoh tuning machine heads and an Edge-Zero II-7 tremolo, which facilitates sociopathic levels of whammy bar abuse without the tuning headaches. If you want to play extreme metal, you need an extreme 7-string electric guitar like the Iron Label Xiphos XPTB720.

Awesome guitar
Let's be honest, you're looking at a Xiphos because you dig pointy guitars, or someone sent you a link to an absurdly shaped guitar. I am most certainly a sucker for pointy guitars and understand they are not for everyone. I can tell you the Xiphos is an extremely comfortable shape to play. You can sit normally with it, play it classical style like a V, or let it hang on a strap. It's more compact than an Explorer so that upper bass bout stays out of the way. The neck shape is really comfortable, feels well balanced, and it came well set up out of the box. My only changes were adding quick release Dunlop Straploks since they space the strap a bit away from the body, and tuned it to E standard with the B using an NYXL 10-59 set. Just a couple turns on the trem claw and the tuning has been rock solid. Intonation is still spot on too thankfully. Get yourself a Xiphos and play. The Deactivators are surprisingly versatile, from death metal on a 6505 to pushed clean tones with the right amp. Just prepare yourself mentally for the day some unseen object is gravitationally drawn to one of the points. It is the fate of all pointy guitars, even in the hands of a careful person. Mine hangs perfectly on one of those Hercules stands
