Windows on Arm Compatibility Guide
Windows on Arm is a new, robust platform for PCs for musicians, audio engineers, content creators, and video editors. It promises next-generation, increased computing power for DAWs, audio plug-ins, video, and photo software, and as a result, an increasing number of software and hardware developers are creating Arm-compatible versions of their products and drivers.
Moving your content creation to a Windows on Arm PC is a big step. You must consider special considerations about hardware and software compatibility, so follow this guide to learn about Windows on Arm compatibility. It will be updated frequently, so be sure to check back frequently for the latest compatibility information!

Windows on Arm Compatibility
Windows on Arm uses the Prism emulator to enable mixing and matching x64 and Arm64 code within the same process. It emulates vector instructions (which many plug-ins and DAWs require) and otherwise ensures that most x64 applications can run unchanged on Arm64 devices.
Natively compiled and tuned Arm64 versions will work best and use the least battery, but emulator use can work well, too. For example, FL Studio running under the Prism emulator on Windows 11 results in a very similar performance and experience as it would on x64 Windows. Other apps, like Cubase, Bitwig Studio, and Cockos REAPER, have already been ported natively to Windows on Arm and have used approaches that allow you to continue to run your existing x64 plug-ins under emulation (if the plug-in installer doesn’t block installation on Arm64) with these Native Arm64 apps.
Although the compatibility level is high under emulation, not everything will work on Arm64 devices, specifically software running in the kernel. This includes audio drivers, as they must be Native Arm64, not emulated. For that reason, an x64 ASIO driver will not install or function on an Arm64 device.
Microsoft, in partnership with Qualcomm and Yamaha, is creating its own low-latency USB Audio Class 2 ASIO driver specifically for Arm64 systems. This driver guarantees that every USB 2.0 Audio device, whether brand-new or old, will be recognized and ready for immediate use in your digital audio workstation (DAW) as soon as it is plugged in (plug and play). However, you still must download the hardware-specific driver, as that driver may be required to use its hardware control software (if applicable).
