Can my VST2.0 effects respond to incoming MIDI messages?
VST 2.0 effect plug-ins are now capable of responding to incoming MIDI messages.
– It is now possible to take advantage of the MIDI input of VST 2.0 effect plug-ins which are capable of receiving MIDI; for example, Steinberg’s VoiceMachine and ProSoniq Magenta. To use this type of plug-in with MIDI it must be inserted in the instrument slot of an audio instrument channel. In this configuration the plug-in responds to MIDI message send to the MIDI channel of its respective audio instrument channel. Audio can be routed to the plug-in via its side chain input.
