Simultaneously Controlling Multiple K2000s

An inSync reader wonders: “Is there a way of independently controlling 2 K2000s? I.e. MIDI Channels 1-8 being responded by K2000#1 only, and channels 9-16 being responded by K2000#2 only? The problem is that both K2000s appear to listen to all 16 Channels so whatever command you send to one K2000 is by the other unit.” According to our Director of Soundware Engineering, Dan Fisher, there are two ways to do this.§Go to the MIDI Channels Page of each K2000. On K2000#1 set the “Enable” parameter of Channels 9-16 to “Off”. On K2000#2 set the “Enable” parameter of Channels 1-8 to “Off”.This will effectively kill those Channels.§Another way is to go to the MIDI Channels Page of each K2000. On K2000#1 turn the “PrgLock” parameter of Channels 9-16 to “On”. Now set the Program #s of Channels 9-16 to “0 None”.On K2000#2 turn the “PrgLock” parameter of Channels 1-8 to “On”. Now set the Program #s of Channels 1-8 to “0 None”.The difference with solution #2 is that you can quickly get any Channel to work simply by manually scrolling away from Program #0.
