How do I set the Roland XV5050 for all 16 channels to be controlled by an external device, sequencer, or my computer software?

Performance “PA 001 Seq:Template” has already been set up for each Part to receive separate channels (part 1 = ch 1, part 2 = ch 2, etc…). It’s often useful to write PA 001 to a User Performance, modify that Performance, and save it. Here’s how to do that:

1. Press PERFORM, use the BANK buttons and VALUE dial to select “PA:001 Seq Template”.

2. Press UTILITY, and use the VALUE dial to choose WRITE PERFORM.

3. Use the CURSOR buttons to move the cursor to the bottom row of the screen. Use the VALUE dial to select which USER Perform to write to.

4. Press ENTER to execute the Write function. * If a write-protect screen appears, turn it OFF. The function should proceed to write.

5. Now you can EDIT your copy of the Seq:Template as desired by pressing EDIT.

6. Use the CURSOR buttons to select the top row on screen. Move the VALUE dial until you see PERFORM : PART
The bottom row should show which preset “sound” is currently selected Part.

7. Use the CURSOR buttons to select the bottom row on screen. Move the VALUE dial to select a different preset.

8. Repeat this process of choosing sounds for each part. While in EDIT mode, you can use the PART buttons to move from part to part within this Performance. You’ll notice that as you press the PART buttons, the “P#” will change at the top-right corner of the screen (P1, P2, etc.). Each part can have a different “sound” selected.

9. Be sure to WRITE your User Performance once you’ve completed editing. Press UTILITY, then ENTER to write the Performance to the same USER location as before.
