Resetting the PMU on a G4.
Some problems with G4’s require you to reset the Power Management Unit. We recommend to contact Sweetwater Tech Support or Apple Tech Support to determine if this is necesarry.
Here’s how to reset the PMU (Power Management Unit) on your G4.
1. Shut down the computer, and UNPLUG the power cable.
2. Locate the small button on the motherboard labeled “PMU RESET”.
On most G4’s, this button is close to the front of the computer, near the bottom of the logic board.
3. Press the PMU RESET button for LESS THAN ONE SECOND
4. Leave the computer UNPLUGGED for at least 10 seconds.
5. Plug the computer in and reboot. You may have to reset minor things, like date & time.
