Reinstalling DP3, removing all items first.
1. Be sure to quit all applications.
2. Trash the follow items, by simply dragging them into the trash.
– Digital Performer folder (on Mac HD) * BE SURE NONE OF YOU PROJECTS ARE INSIDE *
– FreeMIDI Applications folder (on Mac HD)
– FreeMIDI Folder (In System Folder)
– the following items can be found in the Extensions folder (in System folder)
– MOTU folder
– MOTU USB Driver
– FreeMIDI PowerPlug
– FreeMIDI System Extension
– FreeMIDI Softsynth Extension
– the following items can be found inside the Preferences folder (in System folder)
– Digital Performer (a folder)
– FreeMIDI Preferences
– FreeMIDI Setup Prefs
– MOTU Audio System prefs
– MOTU “XXX” preferencs (XXX may be 828, 324, etc… depending on your hardware)
3. Once all of the items are trashed, restart your computer and empty the trash after restart.
4. Insert the DP3 installer CD, and double-click “Install Digital Performer 3.0”
5. Proceed with the Easy Install. Be prepared to enter the key code found on the back page of the DP3 User guide.
6. Once installation is complete, you will be asked to restart, do so.
7. Install your hardware drivers – If you have MOTU audio hardware (2408, 828, etc), “MOTU Drivers & Consoles” can be found on the DP3 CD. Perform an easy install of the necesarry drivers, and restart when instructed to do so.
8. Run necessary updaters immediately after install. Check www.motu.com to make sure you have the latest versions of Digital Performer, MOTU Audio System (MAS), FreeMIDI.
*** At this point you’ll also want to install extras like plug-ins, etc. Be sure to check developer websites for software updates.
9. Once updates are installed, launch FreeMIDI Setup, and follow the steps to configure FreeMIDI. Once complete and saved, leave FreeMIDI open while launching Digital Performer.
10. Choose the desire audio hardware by going to the Basics menu > Configure Audio System > Configure Hardware Driver.
