Problems using Sound Designer II, Studio Vision Pro, Pro Tools or other audio applications with the Digidesign Sound Drivers installed
The Digidesign Sound Drivers are needed in order to use Peak with Digidesign hardware. However, under certain circumstances, Sound Designer II, Studio Vision Pro and possibly other audio applications will not launch if the Digidesign Sound Drivers are present. This is due to an odd interaction between OMS, Quicktime Musical Instruments, the Digidesign Sound Drivers and the Sound Manager. The fix is simple, if non-obvious. Open your OMS Setup file and remove the Quicktime Musical Instruments from your setup. (Simply removing the Quicktime Musical Instruments extension from your Extensions folder is not sufficient.)
– There can also be a conflict with DAE, if your DAE-using application doesn’t release DAE when you switch out of the program. With Pro Tools, turn off the preference item “Active in Background” in order to work concurrently with the Digidesign Sound Drivers.
