Peak Pre-Install Checklist

Before you install Peak 2.0 here is a checklist of items you’ll need to have loaded on your Macintosh PowerPC: QuickTime 3.0 or higher and QuickTime Power Plug needs to be active in your extension set. QuickTime 3.0 is included on the BIAS Peak 2.0 installer disc, but is not part of the Peak 2.0 installation process. Sound Manager 3.3 also needs to be active in your extension set. Sound Manager 3.3 is included with QuickTime 3.0. If you are running QuickTime 4, you will need to be sure that you have installed the Full, authoring version of QuickTime 4 or Peak will not function correctly. If you are running an OS earlier than 8.1, you will need to upgrade your Appearance Manager to version 1.03. We have a copy for you to download from our site. Peak 2.0 also needs the AppleScript, AppleScriptLib, Shared Library Manager, and Shared Library Manager PPC extensions to be active in your extension set. If you are running OS 8.0 or higher, you should install the Sound Control panel (ver. 8.05), which you will find on your hard drive in the Apple Extras folder. Once Peak 2.0 is installed on your hard drive: During the Peak 2.0 installation process, the BIAS installer disc will install a folder called Real Audio Extensions and three MSL extensions in your System’s folder, Extension folder. If you wish to use Peak 2.0 to encode sound files in Real Audio 5.0, then BOTH the Real Audio extensions folder and the three MSL library extensions need to be active in your extensions folder. Please note that the Real Audio Extension folder will not show up in Extensions Manager. If you never plan to use Peak 2.0 to encode files in RA 5.0 and you wish to keep your extension set as stripped down as possible (which you should be doing anyway), then you will need to remove BOTH the RealAudio extension folder AND the three MSL lib extensions from your extensions folder. Having one or the other will result in an error -2817.
