Is the new PTHD/EXT from Emagic replacing the ESBTDM?
In a way YES and in a way NO…
Because Digidesign completely redesigned their hardware with the release of Pro Tools HD, the software that emagic used to address their hardware had to change also, Hence the addition of PTHD/EXT.
Those customers using the 1st generation TDM products must still use ESBTDM. But those customers that have been fortunate enough to get the newer HD systems, must use PTHD/EXT and they have to be at version LOGIC 5.0 or higher for this product to function….
