How do I install my FastTrack USB on Windows Vista?
Fast Track USB Windows Vista 32bit Installation Instructions
Do not connect the Fast Track USB to your computer yet! The driver installer should be run first!
1. Download the latest Fast Track USB driver from the M-Audio driver download page and save it to your Desktop.
If this is the first time you install the Fast Track USB on your computer, please skip the following uninstallation instructions and go to step 5 of this guide.
If an M-Audio Fast Track USB driver is currently installed on your system, it will need to be removed before a new driver can be installed. In this case, launching the installer file should will allow you to “Remove” the previous installation. When first launching the driver file, a window will open indicating that the publisher cannot be verified, Always click “Run”.
2. A “User Account Control” window will appear; Click “Allow”.
3. Select “Remove,” then click “Next” to uninstall the drivers.
4. Once this process is complete, you will be informed that the Uninstall is complete. Click “Finish” to close this application.
5. Double-click the downloaded driver installation file (again).
Again, click “Run” when told the publisher cannot be verified, and “Allow” on the “User Account Control” window”.
6. Click “Next”. The License Agreement window will appear.
7. Carefully read the license agreement, then put the radio button next to “I accept the terms of the license agreement”, click “Next” to continue and “Install” in the window that opens after this.
Whenever a Windows Security Alert pops up and asks “Would you like to install this driver?”, always click “Install”.
8. Click “Finish” in the last screen of the driver installation program.
9. Connect the Fast Track USB to an available USB port on your computer.
10. Shortly after connecting the Fast Track USB, it will display a “Installing device driver software” window.
11. When finished, it will display “Your devices ready to use”.
12. Connect the outputs 1 and 2 of your M-Audio Fast Track USB interface to your speakers, mixer, or other amplification device so you can hear the output of the device.
Once you have completed the installation procedure above, a red M-Audio icon (shown below) will be visible in your system tray. Right-click this icon to launch the M-Audio Fast Track USB control panel.
If you have completed both the software and hardware installation properly, the control panel will open without problems and display “connected” in the top right corner.
