M-Audio Code Series – Setup with Reason

The M-Audio Code series controllers are class-compliant MIDI devices, meaning they do not require a special driver to connect with your Windows or Mac computer. Simply plug it in to a USB port to turn it on and begin. It is recommended to plug directly in to your computer and not through a USB hub.

*Windows will perform an installation upon plugging in your Code series controller to ensure compatibility with it’s system MIDI drivers.

Hardware Setup

1. Press the Edit button
2. Press and hold the Shift button
3. Press the C# key on the key bed with the label MACKIE/HUI above it in grey text so that the display reads “MACKIE”

Software Setup

1. Launch Reason, then open the preferences and click on the Control Surface tab
2. Click the Add button and enter the settings listed below:
   • Manufacturer: Other
   • Model: MIDI Control Keyboard
   • Name: Code (MIDI)
   • MIDI Input: Code xx USB MIDI
3. Click OK
4. To set up Transport functions, click the Add button again and enter the settings listed below:
   • Manufacturer: Mackie
   • Model: Control
   • Name: Code (Mackie)
   • Input: Code xx Mackie/HUI
   • Output: Code xx Mackie/HUI
5. Click OK
6. That’s it!
