I’m having problems hearing my metronome while recording or playing back. What can I do?

The default metronome setting is to send a midi hihat on channel 10 of the first port listed. If your keyboard is not on or hooked up, you will not hear the click. This can be changed to any midi port, channel, and note, or can be changed to the PC internal speaker to be heard as a short beep.

The only settings which affect the metronome are in the menu Optios – Project – Metronome Settings.

The port is numbered according to the enabled midi output ports in Options – Midi Devices. The first highlighted (enabled) output port will be #1, and so on. The next option is channel. Channel 10 for General Midi devices is always percussion, but you can use any channel you wish according to your keyboard/sound module and preference.

The defaults are as follows:
Duration:6 channel:10
1st beat key: F#3 Velocity 127
Other beats Key:F#3 Velocity:100.

If you were having problems with hearing the click, check the routing of the midi. You can also try using PC speaker, but check to see if it’s really lining up on the beats- we’ve had a few reports that the PC speaker is not quite lined up with the beat in some cases.
