Can I use a hardware effects box in the Logic mixer just like a hardware mixer?
Yes… here’s how
PART ONE
1) Go to your Audio Mixer…
2) choose an audio track by clicking once on the words AUDIO X. right below the track itself
3) on the left side of the screen there should be a parameter box… you should see DEV, CHA, and many other parameters….
4) next to channel it will say TRACK X.
5) click and hold on the words TRACK and it will bring you a mini menu with more options like INPUT, INSTRUMENT,OUTPUT and so on..
6) choose an Input
7) when you look back at the track on the screen, the REC button has dissapeared and your fader drops to Zero and there is no longer an INPUT tab above the OUPUT I/O sectiion.
8) Now this track is just an INPUT track just like a real harware mixer and you can monitor whatever source you send into the input that you have chosen – NOTE: you can no longer record with this track…
PART TWO
1) scroll to your 1st Return/Bus and choose the output that matches the input of the track you created… In other words if you choose INPUT 3/4 on your monitor track, then choose OUTPUT 3/4 on the output of this BUS track
2) now when you want to use your effects box all you have to do is turn up the RETURN/BUS that you just assigned per track that you want the effect appled to by…
3) Let’s say it’s track 3 and your effects box is a compressor – well you would go to track 3 and right above the I/O box on the track there should be a SENDS box. c
4) Click and hold and choose the RETURN/BUS that your effect box is on and adjust your effects and you should hear the wet mix of this effect on the earlier INPUT track that you created…
