How to I enter a tuplet in Speedy Entry?

Select the Speedy Entry tool and click on a measure. To enter a tuplet where all three notes have the same duration, press Ctrl+3, then enter the three notes (or rests). The number 3 will appear in the upper right hand corner of the editing frame to indicate an upcoming tuplet.

If you’d like to create a tuplet where the durations vary, for example an eighth note tuplet made up of a quarter note followed by an eighth note, enter the duration of the tuplet (not the first note) first.

For example, Press Ctrl+3 and enter an eighth note (this will designate an eighth note tuplet). Next press the left-arrow key and then the 5 key to change the eighth note to a quarter note (without changing the tuplet definition). Finally, enter an eighth note to complete the tuplet.

If you need to enter a more complex tuplet (or want to specify a particular bracket or slur configuration), press option-1, and the Tuplet Definition dialog box will appear.
