I’m getting DAE -6 alternating with DAE -87 errors on my PC with Pro Tools 7. What does this mean?

This combination is symptomatic of an operating system incompatibility. Make sure you are running the following:

– Windows XP Home or Professional.
– Service Pack 2.

…and not:

– Windows XP Media Center Edition.
– Windows XP Professional x64.
– Windows XP Tablet Edition.
– Service Pack 1.
– No Service Pack at all.

You can check this by going to System Properties, accessible by either:

– Right-clicking on My Computer and choosing “Properties.”
– Going to Start > Control Panel > System.
