I can’t get Pro Tools to work on my Dell Inspiron Laptop. I’ve tried the Sweetwater PC optimization guide, what else can I do?
Here are some settings that Digidesign recommends be done in addition to the standard optimization guide. Adjusting these settings often helps Pro Tools to function normally.
For a Dell Inspiron laptop:
Disable C-State Transition in the BIOS (press F2 during startup to enter BIOS)
Integrated USB Hub = High Speed in the BIOS
After booting into windows do the following:
USB Root Hub = change to Disable “Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power”
This is done by right clicking on “USB Root Hub” in the device manager, selecting “properties,” then Power Management.
In the Control Panel go to Power Options = “Always On” (or Dell Quick Set Performance Mode)
If you are having difficulty finding these settings, contact your Dell customer service center for additional help.
Disable WiFi
Disable Bluetooth
Set FW Drive Policy to Optimize for Quick Removal
