I am using an Audiowerk8 card and have occasionally experienced problems with the channels intermittently “swapping” with each other.

This very unusual situation is generally caused by another PCI card overtaxing the resources of the PCI bus. One such card that seems to have the potential for creating this scenario is the Adaptec 2930B SCSI accelerator card. In one documented case however, the following prescription corrected the problem: From the cards Control Panel, select the SCSI bus for the main drive under the special menu then choose “set target options”. Select the Audio Drive you are using. In the window “synchronous transfer”, change the default setting of 20.0MHZ… Disc to “Disable negotiation”. Click Done and close the control panel. You must then restart the computer so the changes take effect.
