How do I adjust my Aardvark card’s latency or buffer sizes when using Cakewalk to minimize dropouts?
To adjust buffers in Cakewalk and Aardvark to reduce dropouts, first go to your DirectPro Control Panel, and Advanced. Try raising and/or lowering the Directsound buffer size or just the audio buffer. When you relaunch Cakewalk after changing this, always re-run wave profiler in Options-Audio. This will recalculate the proper latency compensation.
Then you can also adjust the latency slider in Cakewalk. This change will take effect immediately when you press OK. The two buffers are actually separate and work on top of each other. It’s best not to have one buffer low and one high, but to keep them closer together. Try several settings for the best balance between latency and stability.
