ATC monitors are handmade in the U.K. using cutting-edge components and processes, and you'll immediately hear why they're considered among the finest reference monitors in the world. You'll find ATC monitors in the studios of George Massenburg, Chuck Ainlay, Nathaniel Kunkel, and many other world-renowned engineers. For a nearfield monitoring experience that sets a new standard for sonic accuracy and mixing precision, choose the ATC SMC20ASL Pro mk2.

Engineering the best speaker possible

Heavy science and engineering backs up every ATC product. These monitors aren't just cobbled together from parts that will work together. The ATC SCM20ASL Pro mk2 was thoroughly engineered to give you the best sound, response, and reproduction of your audio possible. You'll hear every change and every detail in your recordings. You'll hear the difference of truly engineered monitors with the ATC SCM20ASL Pro mk2.

Proprietary speakers offer life-like playback

Great-sounding monitors start with great-sounding speakers. The ATC SCM20ASL Pro mk2 LF drivers are manufactured to exacting standards at their in-house facility. Hand-wound voice coils are made from flat oxygen-free copper wire and operate in a precision long magnetic gap. Specially designed magnet vents not only reduce air flow noise and heat, but increase power handling and reliability. These drivers are designed to give you a smooth and even frequency response without built-in EQ. In short, the SCM20ASL Pro mk2 monitor is designed to perform and sound at the top of its class.

A legacy of monitoring accuracy

A young engineer named Billy Woodman spent his formative years working side by side with some of the best speaker engineers of the day. In 1974, Woodman went on to found ATC (Acoustic Transducer Company). Since then, ATC has focused on one thing: creating the most accurate monitor loudspeakers possible. If you want to make great-sounding recordings that translate to the world outside your studio, accurate monitoring is a must. You need to hear every nuance of your audio, exactly as it was recorded and mixed. ATC monitoring equipment, expertly engineered with the highest-grade components, is designed to do provide just that. How good are ATC monitors? Just ask renowned producers and engineers like George Massenburg, Chuck Ainlay, Nathaniel Kunkel, and Doug Sax. You’ll also find ATC monitors in Abbey Road Studios, Sony Studios New York, Blackbird Studios Nashville, and many more world-class facilities. Sweetwater is proud to offer you ATC’s extensive range of professional studio monitors.

Unparalleled Accuracy
Truly stunning. The speakers become invisible and non-existent. You are listening to your source. They are worth the hefty price tag.

The best investment so far in my studio
These monitors are a game changer for me. I've been mixing on NS10's for decades and made the leap to these. I cannot believe what I was missing. These provide clarity like I cannot believe. I can hear minute changes in EQ and Compression immediately. They are non fatiguing too. My room isn't perfectly treated acoustically, so these eing non ported don't cause issues with low frequency energy. I do use a sub to check frequencies below 60 or so, but mix on these 99% of the time alone. My mixes have improved. I also enjoy listening to my old favorite recordings by others, and let me tell you, I can hear detail like never before. Ends of reverb tails to "black", so many mid range details it's hard to describe. I am compelte in love with these monitors. Highy recommended.

Might not sound pretty but solved all my translation issues!
Longtime Adam user and have relied on them for the past 15 years. I got a Kush Clairphonic recently and realized that my high end translation wasn't as good as I thought and heard crazy sibilance and ice pick frequencies when I listened back in the car. Easy to go overboard with the Clairphonic but also alarmed me to my monitors masking some harshness. Got these Atc monitors and all the harshness I heard in my car was there. No more surprises! My mixes after 2 days have all sounded quite a bit more polished and absolutely no surprises in the car. Funny thing is they are so drastically different in sound from the Adams that I almost returned them after 15 minutes of initial use! After two days these aren't going anywhere! Might not sound as pretty and sweet as the Adams and they definitely get you to put in more work mixing as any mix flaws are glaringly obvious but they have translated better than anything I've ever used and in conjunction with a pair of Mix Cubes my mixes have never sounded better!

Single most dramatic improvement to my studio
I've only been listening for one day, but here are my comments so far.
Detail and clarity like I have never experienced, except perhaps in a few mastering rooms I've been in. Distortion is non existent.
The midrange detail is almost unexplainable, but recordings that I've listened to for decades, I'm hearing new detail. The low end isn't booming, but it is there, I have a decent sub I plan to use to check frequencies below 60hz. The mid range (and high end) is amazing.
Comparing to my other monitors, its almost like I've removed a wet blanket, which is odd because my B monitors are plenty "bright"
I can tell these are going to make me work WAY harder on individual tones, because I'll be able to hear well enough to do so.
I'm ecstatic with the monitors, so excited to mix my next project on them. For now, listening to all my favorite recordings with "new ears". I'll eventually put some of my own mixes up on them....kinda scared :)
I cannot recommend these enough. I'll be sure to report back after I've competed a full project, but have no doubt, this is a life changing moment for me. If you want monitors to hype on with the band listening, etc. these may not be it....at least without a sub. I mix primarily acoustic vocal driven indie and indie rock, they will be perfect for me.

Effortlessly Natural, Lifelike Sound
We took our time auditioning all the premium brands (Barefoot, Pro-Ac, Focal, etc) and found ATCs to be the most neutral and transparent. The SCM45A is suited for mixing in a studio with the whole band present while the SCM20ASL is perfect for mixing on a desktop in a normal room. The ATC-built tweeter in the 20/45 sounded noticeably more detailed than the Vifa in the 25.

Incredibly fast drivers reveal more transients and detail, and provide perfect imaging. One can clearly hear the 12th loudest instrument and precisely where it sits. 0.1dB changes and tiny compression adjustments are noticeable and can be made with great confidence. Good recordings sound magically real and you"re never reminded that you are listening to a pair of speakers.

Completely inert, sealed cabinet emphasizes tight, punchy bass; a great benefit if your room isn"t perfect. There is a bass control on the back, but I was pleasantly surprised to find the monitor sounded perfect at the flat setting. Also, each cabinet weighs 62 lbs - one might assume due to cabinet dampening, but a look inside reveals Massive magnets and an equally robust basket; clearly no compromises!

Decisions made at low volume hold up well at high volume, and vice-versa. We used to always have to re-check the mix three or four times on different speakers after each build - ever since the SCM20"s, we still check, but no changes are ever necessary. Such a time saver. These speakers are so neutral and revealing, the translations always hold up. And finally, electronics filter out odd-order harmonics, eliminating ear-fatigue in even the longest mixing sessions. The amount of time saved, hearing saved and confidence gained can"t be overestimated!
