Realistic piano sound with AiR

To reproduce the sound of the finest acoustic grand pianos, the Privia PX-160 digital piano features Casio's proprietary AiR (Acoustic and intelligent Resonator) processor. Accessing more than three times the memory of the previous generation, the AiR processor utilizes grand piano samples recorded at four dynamic levels of sampling to deliver grand piano sounds with long natural decays and remarkable expression. To further the grand piano experience, AiR adds realism by simulating the sound of the open strings when the dampers are raised by the pedal.

Rear-ported speakers deliver superior sound

The Casio Privia PX-160 digital piano's stellar-sounding 8w x 8w speaker system provides you with remarkably rich tone and projection, due to its rear-ported design. While the Privia PX-160's speakers are open to the front like most digital pianos, they're also ported to the back, giving you amazing low-end response when the Privia PX-160 is placed against a wall. Of course, the Privia PX-160's rear-ported speakers also sound incredible when your sound is projected towards an audience.

Duet Mode makes this instrument perfect for lessons

In addition to the excellent keyboard action and piano sound, the Casio Privia PX-160 digital piano is the perfect instrument for music education. Featuring Casio's Duet mode, the keyboard can be split into two equal ranges, allowing student and teacher to play at the keyboard simultaneously.

USB connection and 2-track recorder open up your possibilities

The Casio Privia PX-160 digital piano's built-in 2 track recorder and metronome allows you to practice any tempo and later listen back to what you just played. The recording features can also be used to capture moments of creativity and remember song ideas. Casio Privia PX-160 review

My daughter and I tested several digital pianos at a local music store. We turned off the sound on all of them and played each keyboard for just a few seconds. We felt that the PX-160 had the best feel. We tried at least 30 keyboards ranging from a few hundred $ up into the thousands. We have a Yamaha GC1 Acoustic Grand in our home that never get's played anymore. She prefers the weighted feel of the Casio much better. By the way... the sounds are really good too.

Love it & like the way it plays & sounds. A great purchase. I gave a piano program at the Senior Center in town and they had the same piano. I loved the way it sounded and played and that's why I bought one for myself. I recommend this piano to all musicians.

For $ it's great - better than many at 2 to 3 times the price. Good speaker an amp so you could easily do a small solo gig. Good sounds but the wow factor is the action - it has a real grand piano feel . If your used to a non hammer action and an easy touch it's not for you but for someone who is a pianist you'll love it.

Really wowed! Buying two!

I am really wowed by this electric piano. It feels like a piano, it plays like a piano, it sounds like a piano. And the son-of-a-gun never goes out of tune! It is worth its price for those things alone. Add to that an array of keyboard effects that also sound like the real thing. I bought one for my personal office on which to practice. Now I'm buying a second one for the church praise band, and the practically new (but now trumped) synth at church gets a "for sale" sign.

I'm very happy with this keyboard. Not having a chance to try it before buying, I was worried the keys would end up not feeling right. I was glad to find out I like the way this Privia feels compared to the slightly more expensive keyboards I tried at the local music shop. The sound is great with headphones, and not bad using the speakers. The speakers are a little quiet and I plan on getting an amplifier for it, which I expect will improve sound. Midi works well when plugged into my computer. For the current price range I don't think I could find anything better.Sweetwater did an excellent job. I had no idea how long I was going to have to wait before this new model was available, but Sweetwater emailed me on a Friday as soon as it became available, and I had it at my door the following Wednesday.
