Great inexpensive fretless bass

This fretless not only plays nicely (thanks to the personal tune-up by the Sweetwater techs before it was shipped to me which ensured that all the Fender factory specs are met and that it plays nicely with no fret buzz or sharp surfaces), but it's also very lightweight and sounds great, too! This bass defies the long-held myth that a bass has to be heavy to sound great or have great sustain! The only drawback - and this was my own fault for not reading the description more closely - was that it did not come with a case or gig bag. I definitely recommend this high quality fretless bass!

Mild disappointment.

It had to be too good to be true - a Precision fretless, which I havebeen on the lookout for years, at a great ("what the hell- take a chance") price. The jury is still out on this instrument, but it was not playable right out of the box. Two big problems: one is string actionset too low to get clear sounds. I assume I can work with thisto adjust. The second problem, more important, is the lackof balance. The bass is very fingerboard heavy, and I findthis so distracting I can't really play for it for very long. I'mnot sure what to do about this except add weight to bridgeend. We'll see. I played a stock Precision (with frets) foryears and I don't remember this problem.A caution to play an instrument before buying? I haven'tgiven up on it, but I was mildly disappointed.
