Earth-friendly monitors for your studio

Designed from the ground up to be environmentally friendly, the Genelec M030 offers sought-after studio-quality sound in a "green" package. Its light weight Natural Composite Enclosure is manufactured from a rigid wood composite material that delivers exceptional sound quality. Not happy with the current selection of amplifiers on the market, Genelec created a new Class D amplifier with intelligent power management that reduces power consumption up to 90%. Get killer studio sound while being earth friendly with the Genelec M030 powered studio monitors.

High performance reflex port design

To increase the Genelec M030 woofer's low frequency extension and SPL capacity, Genelec designed an ingenious flow optimized reflex port. The built-in port maximizes airflow so the M030 can reproduce deep bass without compression. The Laminar Integrated Port (LIP) minimizes port noise and provides excellent bass articulation.

A very efficient monitor

The system's excellent directivity characteristics and accurate imaging together with its compact size and flexible mounting options make the Genelec M030 the perfect loudspeaker for a wide range of critical listening applications.

Remarkable response from 5" bass driver and 0.75" tweeter

Each Genelec M030 monitor features a 5" bass driver along with a 0.75" tweeter loaded into a new advanced Genelec Directivity Controlled Waveguide (DCW) for optimum dispersion of highs. With a requency response of 48Hz to 20kHz, the M030 is perfect for accurate studio monitoring. Bass and treble are each powered by 50-watt and 30-watt amplifiers, respectively. Totally Satisfied

Part of the reason I was blown away by these speakers is that, due to being discontinued after 2015, they were selling out in a new box never opened with full warranty for the pair. I expected to return them figuring they must have been a dud to be so cheap. I was wrong. I was only going to use them to add audio to a 60" television I'd installed in my Airbnb home. But once I fired them up I decided they sounded better than my previous near fields and swapped them out and currently use them in the studio in my 40' 5th wheel rig where I have a studio for travelling.I'm guessing this speaker, released in 2013 and discontinued in 2015 only lasted two years because nobody in the home market wanted to pay the original price range and often selling just under that in the second year. They stand up to anything in the price range but they cost me less than 1/3 of that.Offered here they are still a great value though I'd also check around given the possibility of a cheaper street price. I can't imagine anyone moving up would be disappointed. There is a nice set of Neuman's in the same price range that I didn't consider previously that I would probably demo them side by side before buying.

Great 5" Monitor

I spent several weeks researching different 5-7" monitors. Tested out the A7X, Alpha 50, HS7, K-H 120, M030 and M040s. Each monitor sounded great, the M040s being my favorite but also most expensive. I found the difference in sound between the M030s and 40s to be similar enough that I went with the cheaper option. I felt both the M030 and 40 needed a sub but that was expected given I was looking at smaller sized speakers. Very clean sound. Happy with my decision.

Superb Speakers

I'm incredibly surprised by the build quality, and sound reproduction of these monitors. They have that classic Genelec "mids up front" sound, which I personally like, being as the mids are the most sensitive part of our hearing spectrum, it's nice to have monitors that reveals that area really nicely.A lot of the larger 8" speaker designs have good lows and highs, but miss the mids (HS8's and Event 20/20's for an example). For this reason I prefer a smaller box design, such as these.Interestingly enough, these speakers sound an awful lot like my Focal Twin6 Be's, MUCH more expensive monitors. They really do have a similar mid-high reproduction, although the Focals sound a little different in the lows. Neither better or worse, just a little different. The Focals don't sound $1200 better each, that's for sure.I've heard (and owned) a lot of boxes in this price range and above it, and I can undeniably say these are the best I've ever heard for this size and price, they're really THAT good. I think they're a steal for the current price tag.In case anybody is worried about power, these things get SERIOUSLY loud, WAY louder than ever necessary for mixing. I do not feel as though they lack power whatsoever.I got a sub with mine, which really fills them out nicely in that bottom range, I got the Mackie MR10Smk3, which seems to pair extremely well with these speakers, and they look like they are of a matching set. So I highly recommend that sub with these speakers.Incredibly well made, and incredible sounding speakers. You won't be disappointed.

Amazing!

I was debating on getting cheaper but bigger monitors as I was worried about bass response but my sales engineer told me to go with these and all I can say is wow!! With these little guys you can really hear what you're doing musically. I feel like I can hear all the way around the sound like its 3D. Sure, I might get a sub later on but right now I am more than happy. I am sold on genelec and of course sweetwater.

Phenomenal Monitors

I had been using an old pair of M-Audio SP-5B's for about 10 years, and recently began to upgrade my studio piece-by-piece. I had read that as you accumulate more mid-high end gear, you're really cheating yourself on sub-par monitors. These monitors are so much more detailed and smooth than my old ones, and the stereo imaging is unreal. I'm particularly noticing details in the mids of my old recordings that I never heard before. I could immediately hear a difference when I listened to a recording from a few days back strumming a Taylor 414 ce, through an AKG B-XLS and an LA-610. The guitar sounded like a new guitar through these babies! Not to mention these monitors have PLENTY of volume. My apartment only needs the main turned up to about 4 before the neighbors knock on my door. If you are upgrading to any high end gear, do yourself a favor and try these Genelecs.
