Squier Classic Vibe '70s Jazz Bass

First introduced in 1960, the Jazz Bass has withstood the test of time to become one of the most played and recorded instruments in modern music history. As roundwound strings and brighter bass sounds became popular in the 1970s, a number of modifications were made to the J Bass to accommodate the changing tastes in music production; most notably, maple fingerboards and a back pickup moved closer to the bridge. The Squier Classic Vibe '70s Jazz Bass captures this funky vibe in an incredibly affordable instrument with the classic J Bass offset-waist body, fast-action neck, and dual single-coil pickups. I call mine "Miss Pretty"....
What an absolutely beautiful instrument from Sweetwater. Stock right out of the box it sounds ethereal, like it was crafted by angels. Upgraded to Emerson controls purchased at Sweetwater. THANK YOU CRAIG! Hipshot HB7 tuners, Gotoh 201B Bridge. Aftermarket pickguard and control plate. Still my favorite bass of all time although I'm really sweet on the red mini P bass. I'm working on a review of that. Hope you love your maple Squire too.

Where do l begin?

I was at a friend and execute bandmates surprise birthday party in the winter, they had REALLY good young band there and a bunch of us old road dogs too. My friend says hey let's go play a few. I said I didn't bring a bass but the kid in the band says hey you use this if you want. So I grabbed it and MAN it was BUTTER... Didn't pay much attention to anything else about it. I could NOT stop thinking about how well it played so I contacted the kid and he said "It's nothing special just a Squire CV '70's Jazz"... IMMEDIATELY looked on Sweetwater and had 5 to chose from... picked this one because of the figuring and when it arrived...MIND BLOWN...set up was great body BEAUTIFUL and the tone was JUST what I was looking for...$ all in...WELL worth it...

The saga of the Jazz Bass-and the beautiful replacement
Ordered a Squire 70's Jazz bass in Jan 2022. From day one the bass neck would not play or adjust properly even with 2 of my best guitar luthiers trying to fix it. I n Feb 2023 I spoke to to Sweetwater's Guitar Workshop for a warranty repair and then shipped the Jazz bass to them. I expected they would just replace the neck with a good one since the problem with the first bass was a broken truss rod. Well today out of the blue Fed-Ex delivered a beautiful brand new Squire 70's Jazz Bass to me. I have played it now for a few hours and to say it is a better bass would be an understatement! Everything about it is superb for a $ bass. It plays and sounds as good as my 1972 Rickenbacker 4001 and almost as good as my stingray.
The Sweetwater Guitar Workshop staff and my sales rep Mike Johnson are very friendly professional and caring.
If you looking for an entry level bass or a backup bass the Squire 70's Vibe Jazz Bass is a perfect choice aand very cost effective. Kudos to the Sweetwater for taking such great care of an old road warrior like me.

Wow!
Was going to save up for a fender Jazz Bass not sure what one but heard about this Squier jazz cv70. And the reviews were great. So I gave it a try and glad I did this thing is a beast and it is still stock. Want to try And put in Seymour Duncan qp's. But the tones are awesome now so we will see!

Awesome Bass
I recently purchased this bass, and I must say I am blown away with the quality of this product. I used to have a Squier J bass back about 15 years ago and the quality and playability was no where near what I am experiencing with this new purchase. The setup was spot on and did not require any further adjustment. The sound and playability amazingly close to the more expensive J basses from the fender offerings.
