This is a very handsome looking board and with the meter bridge it completes the look of a very professional mixing board. It took me awhile to get the hang of this board’s characteristics coming from a Mackie. The price difference is substantial and the sonic difference is as well. The board delivers a suburb sound quality, however the faders need to be pushed up pretty high. The Mackie I had was the opposite, almost too much power that led to distortion if I was not cautious. You do have to dial in your sound with the eq’s which are very good. I found leaving them off left a very flat sounding recording without character even using plug ins in Pro Tools it still sounded dull until I engaged the EQ section on the Toft Board and fine tuned the sound and then fine tuned it even more with my plug ins. Now I am getting compliments on the sound which I never had before. It is solid and seems to be well built even though it comes from China. I have issues with products from China in the past and was doubtful about this unit, but they seem to have built it well. If you are looking for an analog board in this price range this could be were the buck stops. Fed Ex was a little sloppy in handling the delivery but to my surprise they pack this board very well, so if the outside cardboard looks like an NFL player kicked it, don’t worry, the board is safe and sound. I would rate it as a BUY.

It has issues

I originally praised this board, but as time has gone on, I have to say I HATE IT. There is a high noise floor that seems to grow worse as time moves on. There is too much hiss when the board is idle and when eq is on in pro tools a hiss gets placed in the recording. I have to use a waves noise reducer to try and get a clean voice over sound. PMI should be put out of Biz for selling this board- 6- grand with meter bridge for HISS.
