Yamaha Acquires Steinberg From Pinnacle Systems.
2003 and 2004 might well be best remembered as a time of corporate acquisitions in the music technology industry. One such acquisition was that of Steinberg by Pinnacle Systems, a leading manufacturer of video production solutions. Eying growth in the music creation market, as of December 20 and 21 of 2004, Yamaha has reached a basic agreement to acquire 100% of the common stock of Steinberg from Pinnacle Systems. Yamaha and Steinberg has been working in cooperation since the mid 1990s with the Studio Connections initiative with a goal toward seamlessly integrating Yamaha’s hardware with Steinberg software.
