The new hand-built Soundelux E47C tube condenser microphone faithfully recreates the revered “cardioid-only” characteristics of the original 1950s-era German tube 47, which was typically used almost exclusively in that mode. Like that classic, the E47C delivers a signature proximity effect, with 12dB of boost at 100Hz when used at a 1-inch working distance. The original ’47 is synonymous with big vocals and has been used by such diverse artists as Frank Sinatra and Sheryl Crow. At greater distances, the head grille sound of the E47C will made it a “go-to” mic for solo and ensemble instrument recordings.
