Winter NAMM 2005: Korg KONTROL 49

Winter NAMM 2005: Korg KONTROL 49

The OASYS wasn’t Korg’s only trick. They debuted the new KONTROL49, with 49 full-size, great feeling keys plus 40 assignable controllers, including a new Vector Joystick. This is a serious piece of hardware! The Vector Joystick offers simultaneous control of two separate parameters. The KONTROL 49’s main panel also sports eight assignable sliders and eight assignable rotary encoders with backlit LCDs to display their values. 16 illuminated and velocity sensitive trigger pads can perform any MIDI function from triggering loops and samples and selecting sounds to serving as transport controls for your computer sequencer. The pads can also be used to select and change up to 12 internal scenes that reconfigure all the controllers with a single touch, so you can quickly switch the KONTROL49 to work with multiple programs or go from tweaking a soft synth to mixing your music. In addition to a MIDI input and a pair of MIDI outputs, the back panel features a USB port, allowing direct connection to your computer so the KONTROL49 can function as a USB MIDI interface. It runs on USB bus power or with an adapter. It’s a great controller for recording or stage use!
