Even after all the great design, sonically and esthetically, Blue
microphones have delivered over the course of the last few
years, who could have expected their new incarnation, The
Ball? This softball-sized microphone is a Phantom powered
dynamic microphone. Yes, you read that correctly. Without
getting too technically deep, the idea is that this should yield
exceptionally smooth and open sound not typically associated
with “everyday” dynamic microphones. The Ball handles high
SPLs without distortion and comes in at a very nice price. As
we do with nearly all microphones that come through
Sweetwater, we can’t wait to hear this mic in our studios!
