Bassist Wayman Tisdale passed away on May 15 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Though Tisdale made his mark first as a college, Olympic, and professional basketball player (including a stint with our Pacers), in 1995 took his bass playing pro, diving into the contemporary jazz genre. He recorded eight albums, including Face to Face and Way Up, which reached number one on the Billboard charts. In 2007 he was diagnosed with bone cancer. At the time of his passing, he and jazz guitarist Norman Brown were about to begin recording a new project. Our condolences to his family, friends, and fans.
