A specific type of programming shell that helps Waves brand plug-ins to communicate with the processors on which they run. In that case it acts as a sort of operating system upon which their plug-ins work while acting as a sort of interface between the plug-ins and the processor. The Waves Shell allows Waves some flexibility in terms of how their code is written – they don’t have to conform to all of the standards of the host system, which among other things allows their plug-ins to be more efficiently utilized on some systems than would be possible if their plug-ins interfaced directly with the processor.
