By popular demand, Waldorf has released a keyboard version of its highly acclaimed analog modeling synth, which it calls Blofeld (yes, like the villain in the James Bond books and movies). First off, the 49-note keyboard looks awesome with a rugged metal enclosure, stainless steel rotary encoders, and backlit 128×64 pixel LCD. There are over 1,000 sounds onboard, so you might want to set aside a weekend simply to go through each of them to select your favorites. There are three oscillators and two filters per voice and the synth has 25-voice polyphony. Other features include:
- 60 MB sample memory
- Class-compliant USB MIDI for PC, Mac and Linux
- 16-part multimode
- 49 semi-weighted keys with aftertouch
- Internal power supply
- Pitchbend and modulation wheels
- Virtual analog, wavetable, and sample-based oscillators
- MIDI in/out
- Selectable drive curves
- Frequency modulation for oscillators and filters
- Three LFOs and four envelopes per voice
- Complex arpeggiator
- Powerful effects section
