Martin has an incredible, long history of guitar making. That history includes guitar designs that we all know and some you may be less familiar with. Did you know that Martin was the originator of the sloped-shoulder dreadnought? It started as a commission from Ditson guitars in the 1910s and eventually made it to the Martin line in the early 1930s.
For the 16 Series, Martin has introduced a sloped-shoulder dreadnought in the DSS-16E. This guitar delivers the sound and feel you’d expect: punchy mids, focused lows, strong top end. Strummed chords sit perfectly in a mix.
- Gloss spruce top
- Satin mahogany back and sides
- 24.9-inch scale length
- Three transparent finish options: 1935 Burst, Black Smoke, Cherry Cola
The 00L-16E adds the sloped-shoulder aesthetic to a smaller body size with a more intimate voice. The mid and low frequencies are shifted up, but this guitar has serious projection.

- Satin mahogany back and sides
- Three transparent finish options: 1935 Burst, Black Smoke, Blue Denim
The 16 Series has a jumbo, the J-16E. It’s a commanding instrument with big volume, deep lows, and shimmering highs. It’s a sound that can fill in a mix.

- East Indian rosewood back and sides
- Three transparent finish options: 1935 Burst, Black Smoke, Cream
The GPC-16E is Martin’s Grand Performance body shape. It’s a guitar that excels in so many areas with the 000 body depth, cutaway, and 25.4-inch scale length that make it comfortable to play without sacrificing power or clarity.
- Gloss spruce top with vintage tint
- East Indian rosewood back and sides
The Grand J-16E 12-string simply sounds gorgeous. The grand jumbo body size gives you powerful volume and projection. Non-scalloped X-bracing provides the clarity and balance you need for a 12-string.
